The "Temperance House", item # 1992 is lacated in Newtown, Pennsylvania. The Temperance House was meticulously restored after a fire gutted this Inn in 1985. A lion and lamb motif, from the paintings of Edward Hicks, hangs outside. Its colorful beginnings date back to 1772. Originally, this building was opened as a combination schoolhouse and tavern. Students were taught on one side of the wall, while spirits were served on the other side to the local townspeople. The school later moved, and the tavern slowly changed in temperament. Introduced in January 1999 and retired in December, 2003.
