The "Summerall Chapel" was erected during 1936-1937. Cruciform in design, the Chapel is a shrine of religion, of patriotism, and of remembrance. From the air, the red tile roof forms a cross. The Chapel was designed in the style of the 14th century Gothic. The furniture throughout is plain sawed Appalachian Mountain white oak stained cathedral brown. The ceiling and timbering are pine. Handcrafted wrought iron light fuxture hang throughout the Chapel. The stained glass windows depict the life of Christ. The great chancel window, located directly behing the alter, was dedicated in 1942 as a memorial to all Citadel graduates who gave their lives in their country's cause.
