This house was built in 1823 with architectural input from the Webster family and Noah Webster himself. Noah Webster lived in this house while he finished his American Dictionary and had his revision of the Bible published. Noah Webster was 65 years old in 1823 when he moved into this house, originally in New Haven, Connecticut. Webster was a friend of George Washington, learned 20 languagues, and wrote a basic reader (Nicknamed "The Blue-Backed Speller") that became the second most popular book in America. In 1825, Webster completed his masterwork, the first American dictionary.
