Ludington, Michigan is named after the lumber baron and property developer James Ludington. The Ludington North Pierhead guides the way into the mouth of the Pere Marquette River from Lake Michigan. An interesting point...in 1994 the tower was being repaired when it suddenly settled four degree list to the north-east.
