*The Dedham Pottery Company tradition started in 1896 in Dedham, Massachusetts and the endearing “Dedham Rabbit” was the company’s most popular design. Though the company closed in 1943, original Dedham pottery is highly sought by collectors on an international scale. In 1973, Chotsie Starr, a ceramics hobbyist, decided to create some reproductions of Dedham pottery to add to her collection of originals. Soon, Chotsie’s “little hobby” grew out of her cellar into its’ own production facility. Thus, The Potting Shed Pottery Company was born. The original objective was, and still is, to create finely crafted reproductions in the Dedham Pottery Tradition. Every piece is signed with the Potting Shed’s logo, and with the mark “USA”, where it is still proudly made.
