This piece is a tribute to the adoptive, blended and mixed race families that make up the fabric of our lives in this day and time. A lovely poem was written by the artist's sister, Karen, that follows: "Child of the world, into my heart you came. Bringing sun into my life, making family our name."

This makes a perfect gift for the family that is expanding through adoption or blending two families...or just because you know a mother with a deep abiding love. The picture does not show well that there is a slight difference between the mother and child's skin tones.
